Bill Cosby Died and Then Appeared on 'Larry King Live'

Bill Cosby Says He Wants Steven Wright to Play Him in the Movie They Make About His Life

Comedian Bill Cosby appeared on CNN's "Larry King Live" Monday evening after he died. He told CNN anchor Kyra Phillips, who was sitting in for vacationing Larry King, that this was the fourth time he had died and it

wasn't as fun as it used to be. By now, you, the reader, are asking yourself, "How could Bill Cosby be on 'Larry King Live' if he was dead? Was the segment taped beforehand?" And therein lies the problem with dead celebrity rumors and hoaxes. Bill Cosby had not died. He was very much alive...

Bill Cosby was not only not dead but talking about his four deaths via Twitter and Internet. The topic "Bill Cosby Died" was the number one trending topic on Twitter most of Monday as people searching for news and verification of the rumor drove the topic to the top of the list. It was soon followed by "Bill Cosby Dead" and later "Bill Cosby Died" on Google Hot Trends, the former of which hit the #1 position.

Cosby, who called into the CNN studio, told Kyra Phillips that whoever was taking it upon themselves to create rumors and hoaxes needed to stop, because now it had begun to hurt people. His daughter had called him up to make sure he was alright. He said the owner of a restaurant he frequented had called him to make certain he was still alive, that the owner's son had called him crying about the terrible news.

Cosby, who is 73, told "Larry King Live" that the first time he had been declared dead via the Internet, he fell to what has basically become the default position of nearly anyone where news of their death preceded the actual event -- Mark Twain's famous quote, "Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated." The second rumor caused him to begin "rebuttaling" the death hoax, something he said his wife assured him couldn't be done because there was no such word. He said that since he was alive, he could make up words if he liked. He rebutted the next two as well, the last via Twitter.

But as serious as Bill Cosby was about the perpetrator(s) refraining from any more death rumors, he didn't stay serious long, joking about his forthcoming demise. He told Kyra Phillips he wanted Steven Wright to play him in the movie about his life.
