Granddad Bandi

The Granddad Bandit,

is a serial bank robber, notable for both his age and proficiency at robbing banks. As of June, 2010, he has robbed at least 21 banks in the Eastern and Central United States. His first robbery was in January of 2009. He was nicknamed the "Granddad Bandit" because of his age, appearance, and manner of dress. He is wanted in 12 states and wanted by the FBI. There is a 10,000 dollar reward for information leading to his capture. The FBI, in cooperation with Lamar Outdoor Advertising, has been displaying his image and description on billboards in 10 states, yet so far he has evaded capture. He should not be confused with the "Grandpa Bandit", a different man who robbed 7 banks in Oregon in late 2009, and has since been caught.
Appearance

He is a white male, aged about 50-65 years. He is heavyset, bald (with some short gray hair on the sides of his head), and tall, over 6 feet in height. He tends to wear nondescript clothing such as a ball cap and a polo-type shirt. He apparently wears prescription eyeglasses.
Modus Operandi

The bandit usually enters the victim bank, walks up to a teller counter, and hands the teller a note demanding money. Sometimes, the bandit claims to possess a weapon. During other robberies, such as in the St. Louis County robbery, he doesn't show or imply a weapon. FBI representatives say his robberies are calm and deliberate, apparently aimed at generating a minimal amount of attention.
Vehicle

After a robbery in February, 2010, his getaway vehicle was described as a black, four-door Ford F150 or F250 pickup truck with an Alabama license plate.
