Hospital catwalk

Hospital halls serve as catwalk for patient-wear,
Sept. 18Somebody ought to design a better hospital gown. Who wants to be attired in one of those peek-a-boo outfits that leaves your back and, ah, nether regions exposed?

Well, somebody has designed a better hospital gown. A designer, no less.
With the Cleveland Clinic, Diane von Furstenberg has helped create a better and more stylish hospital gown. Her signature look is a wrap dress in a bold pattern, and the gown incorporates that look indeed featuring a bold pattern and side ties.

The redesign came about because patients were complaining not that they were too cold from an open-back gown, but rather that they were too warm. The team had to find a lightweight cool fabric that also could stand up to multiple washings.

Wouldn't it be nice to have some of those redesigned gowns right here in River City?

Feedback at Cleveland Clinic is reportedly positive except that some male patients find the new gown too feminine. A masculine version may be in the works.

Now, there's a challenge for "Project Runway."
