Los Angeles - Unable to land a roster spot among the 30 NBA teams, future Hall of Fame guard Allen Iverson is heading overseas to play basketball for the 2010-11 season.
Iverson has agreed in principle to sign a two-year, 4 million-dollar contract with powerful Besiktas of the Turkish professional league, sources told Yahoo Sports on Sunday night.
Iverson, 35, plans to sign this week, and is expected to report to his new club the week of October 31, with a possible debut against Bornova on November 6 for the former NBA Most Valuable Player.
There's a no escape clause in Iverson's contract to leave Turkey and return to the NBA during the season. However, the former four-time league scoring champ, who averaged 26.7 points during his 14-year NBA career, mostly for the Philadelphia 76ers, can opt-out after the season.
