Chicago -- The nation's first ever Breast Cancer Quality Screening and Treatment Board will bring together health care officials from around the state to work to improve breast cancer treatment and diagnosis access for Illinois women.
Governor Pat Quinn announced the 13-member board during an event in Chicago Monday.
They will work with Medicaid and other programs to identify gaps in screening and diagnostic services across the state.
The group will explore different options to make sure low income women have access to quality, affordable health care.
One focus of the panel will be targeting the high breast cancer mortality rate for minority women.
