Boston Celtics vs Miami Heat
Wade was injured in the first quarter of his first preseason match, so it’s still quite a mystery how the combination of Wade and LeBron will fit together. Regardless, LeBron is the type of player that likes to share the ball, so it should be no problem for them to coexist on the same floor, wearing the same uniform.
Another player that makes his debut in his new team is Shaquille O’Neal. It was hard for him to find a team willing to put up with his antics and injuries, but the Celtics know that Shaq will fit in well to the Celtics organization. Chris Bosh is the only skilled big men in the Heat roster, so it will be interesting to see how they can contain the likes of Shaq and Jermaine O’Neal as well as Kevin Garnett.
The smart money will have their expectations on the Boston veterans to win this one at home, backed by a willingness not to let the new big 3 make a big splash on their home floor. It would be ridiculous to call the first game of the season a ‘statement game’ but a statement is what the Celtics will be wanting to send out to the new Heat team, letting them know that they can’t just waltz into the same team and expect a championship – something the Celtics themselves achieved several years ago.
