About This Event
1st annual Columbus day race with lots of postrace food and quality awards. Course is perfect for beginners or veterans.
Course Description
All course are out and back on scenic, paved, country roads. The course is all flat with very little elevation gain or loss. This is one of the flattest courses you will ever run. There will be aide stations approx. every 1 1/2 miles with water, gatorade, gel packets and other goodies. Porta Potties will be available along the course. Course is great for beginners or veterans.


Awards
Overall winners of all races will receive a special award and be bumped from age groups. ALL MARATHON FINISHERS RECEIVE A MEDAL AND A TROPHY!!!! 1st in 5 year age groups in the Half-marathon will also receive a neck medal. 2nd and 3rd place will receive neck medals. In all the other races, the top 3 in 5 year age groups will receive neck medals. NOTE: If you don't receive a age group award you will receive a finisher medal.
T-shirts and Extra Garments
All entrants will receive a designer multi color short sleeve shirt. You can also order and extra short sleeve shirt, tank top, longsleeve shirt or sweatshirt. All garments are 100 percent cotton and are preshrunk. Sizes are small, medium, large and extra large.
Packet Pickup & Results
Packet Pickup starts the morning of the race at 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. RESULTS: Will be available after the race is finished and be posted at www.ontherunevents.com, www.racecenter.com and www.nwrunner.com.
Age Groups
0-5, 6-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 UP.
Weather Facts
The climate in Elma in early october is normally cool in the morning and early afternoon with temps in the low 50's rising to the mid 60's by late afternoon. Being 30 miles from the Pacific Ocean keeps Elma cool in the early autumn. Chance of rain is minimal but possible. NOTE: However, warm conditions can develop with early morning temps in low 50's rising to 70's by afternoon. Dress in layers because conditions can change quickly.
Postrace Food
After the race enjoy lots of food. There will be lots of turkey, chicken, ham and roast beef sandwiches. Tuna fish and cheese sandwiches will also be available. There will also be abundant cookies, donuts, crackers and other goodies. Cold bottled water, gatorade and soda will also be available to drink after the run.
Driving Directions
From the NORTH take I-5 south to Olympia and follow Hwy 101 north. Follow to Hwy 8 and go west towards the Ocean. Take the second Elma exit and go left over the freeway. Turn right on Wenzelslough road. Park is on the right. From the SOUTH take I-5 north to Exit 88B(Aberdeen) and go west on Hwy 12. Follow through Rochester, Oakville, Porter and Malone. Upon entering Elma turn left on to Hwy 8. Take the first exit and go left over the freeway. Turn right on Wenzelslough.
