Dalton, GA Police Department will be closing some city roads and also some lanes of other city roads on Oct. 16, to accommodate runners in the Dalton Half Marathon. Motorists should adjust their routes on the morning of the 16th accordingly.

The roads or lanes that will be affected by the half-marathon route are
- • W. King Street – Closed
- • Hamilton Street – Closed from King Street to Grace Street
- • W. Franklin Street – Closed
- • S. Thornton Avenue – Southbound lane closed from Franklin Street to Waugh Street
- • W. Waugh Street – Eastbound lane closed from Thornton Avenue to Valley Drive
- • Valley Drive – Closed
- • W. Walnut Avenue – Westbound lane closed from Thornton Avenue to Tibbs Road
- • Tibbs Road – Closed
- • Wood Valley Drive/Wood Valley Court – Closed
- • Shugart Road – Northbound lane closed
- • Chattanooga Road – Eastbound lane closed from Shugart Road to Old Chattanooga Road
- • Old Chattanooga Road – Closed
- • N. Thornton Avenue – Southbound lane closed from Old Chattanooga Road to Trammel Street
- • Thornton Avenue – Southbound lane closed from Benton Street to Hawthorne Street
The affected roads or lanes will be closed down around 7:30 a.m. and will remain closed until approximately
noon. If possible, motorists are encouraged to avoid the area, but if you must drive near the half marathon route, please allow extra time to reach your destination and follow road signs or the directions of officers directing traffic.
