Emergency medical visa for U.S.

OBTAINING A VISA FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT
Note - Applicants traveling for EMERGENCY medical treatment may send an e-mail to ConsularDjibouti@state.gov to request an expedited appointment, which may be granted after examination of the request, on a case-by-case basis.
All applicants who wish to travel for medical treatment to the United States must have, in addition to the requirements stated under the ‘NIV application instructions" link on the left navigation bar, the following information/documents at the time of visa application:
Medical diagnosis from a physician in Djibouti or Somalia, explaining the nature of the ailment, treatment provided, if any, why additional treatment is not available locally, and, if applicable, why the applicant requires treatment in the United States;
Letter from a physician/medical facility in the United States, expressing a willingness to treat this specific ailment, giving the appointment date for the patient and detailing the projected length and cost of treatment (including doctors’ fees, hospitalization fees, and all medical-related expenses). This information can be sent by mail, fax or email;
Statement of financial responsibility from the individual(s) or an organization that will pay for the patient’s transportation, medical and living expenses. The individuals guaranteeing payment of these expenses must provide proof of ability to do so, often in the form of bank or other statements of income/savings or certified copies of income tax returns;
Remember: Applicants requiring medical treatment in the United States are requested not to apply before having all of the above-mentioned information on hand. Applicants who wish to receive medical treatment in the US are still subject to section 214(b) of the Immigration & Nationality Act. In other words, they must prove to the satisfaction of the interviewing consular officer that they have sufficient ties compelling them to return to their country after completion of their visit. Receiving an expedited appointment for a visa interview and visa eligibility/receipt are two distinctly different and separate issues.
