Hurricane Richard downgraded to a tropical storm

Hurricane Richard was downgraded to a tropical storm on Monday as it passed over northeastern Guatemala, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

Richard, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 miles per hour (105 kph), was located about 90 miles (145 km) west of Belize City, the Miami-based center said.
