INDIANAPOLIS -The 15th Running of the Community Health Network Indianapolis Marathon & Half Marathon on Saturday, October 16, 2010, is partnering up with the new DreamWorks Animation movie "Megamind" featuring the voices of Brad Pitt, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and David Cross.
In honor of the partnership, the last mile of the marathon will be the official "Mega Mile" featuring huge towers with "Megamind" signage, a balloon arch and signs with motivational slogans from "Megamind", cheering participants on throughout the final stretch! In addition, a "Megamind" costume character will be on-site to help start the race and be a part of the kids' activities. There will also be loads of fun giveaways from the film at the post race party!
The Indianapolis Marathon is celebrating its' 15th year and features a marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5K and kids run. The race starts at 8:30 AM at Fort Benjamin Harrison and weaves throughout scenic Lawrence, through Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park and along the Fall Creek Corridor.
Online registration will remain open at www.IndianapolisMarathon.com until Wednesday, October 13. The Expo/Packet Pick-up and walk up registration will be held at Benjamin Harrison YMCA in Lawrence on Friday October 15 from 11:00am-9:00pm. The Indianapolis Marathon Road Runners Club is a non-profit organization and produces the event. The race benefits local charities such as KIDS Inc. (a non-profit organization working with youth in the Fountain Square area of Indianapolis) and many other charities, as well as school and church volunteer groups, and has raised over a half-million dollars.
Sponsors of this year's race include Community Health Network, Megamind, Athletic Annex, Gatorade, YMCA and Indianapolis Hilton North.
