Krystal Ball


Krystal Marie Ball (born November 24, 1981 in King George County, Virginia), is an American businesswoman and politician. She is currently the Democratic nominee in Virginia's 1st congressional district election, 2010.

Ball's distinctive name came from her father, a physicist who did his dissertation on crystals. After her mother named her older sisters Heidi and Holly, it was her dad's turn. She grew up in King George, Virginia, and attended King George High School. She was a state champion swimmer, academic all-American and attended Clemson University on a swimming scholarship. Ball graduated from the University of Virginia in 2003 with a degree in Economics.
Ball's father, Edward Ball, was born in West Virginia during the Great Depression and worked his way to a Ph.D in physics, spending his summers working construction to pay for his education. Her mother, Rose Marie Ball, was the daughter of a postal worker and a sheet metal worker, and was the first member in her family to attend college. She is now an educator in King George County,.

Ball helped reform the Civil Criminal Accounting system for 89 Federal District Courts to improve accountability and increase efficiency. Ball is challenging Republican incumbent Rob Wittman to represent the district which stretches from Quantico in Northern Virginia down to the Hampton Roads area. Early in the race, Ball was endorsed by WUPAC (Women Under Forty Political Action Committee). In October 2010, Ball, a candidate running for Congress, received national attention when photos taken six years earlier emerged showing her at a holiday party sucking a red dildo attached to a man's nose..
