ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Supreme Court on Friday will hear oral arguments in a lawsuit that claims the Division of Elections should not be handing out names of write-in candidates at polling places.
The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Anchorage's Boney Courthouse.
Alaska Democrats sued Monday and were joined by the Republican Party of Alaska. The parties say distributing names amounts to advocacy.
The lawsuit was opposed by the state and the campaign of U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who was defeated in the GOP primary by Joe Miller. Murkowski is mounting a write-in campaign.
Anchorage Superior Court Judge Frank A. Pfiffner on Wednesday granted a temporary restraining order stopping elections officials from handing out names at polling places. The Supreme Court blocked his order.
