High alert ahead of the high profile visit,
India prepares to welcome Obama

US president Barack Obama is due to begin his state visit to India tomorrow. The country has been put on high alert ahead of the high profile visit, with security stepped up in many regions, especially Kashmir.,

Security measures taken for burial of Dr. Imran Farooq,
KARACHI, Nov 5 (APP): Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik, has said that all security measures have been taken on the occasion of burial of former convener of Mutehida Quomi Movement (MQM), Dr. Imran Farooq. Dr. Imran was assassinated on Sept 16 last in London’s Edgware district. Talking to media persons after presiding over a meeting in this regard at the office of the Crisis Management Cell on Friday, Rehman Malik said that additional force of police and rangers has been deployed.

He welcomed the step of the provincial government which banned the display and carrying of licenced weapons during the next 48 hours.
“Government supports the MQM in this our of crisis and comprehensive security plan has been devised so that final funeral rites could be completed peacefully,” he said.
The Federal Minister said that security programme will be supervised by the provincial Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza.
He said due to security reasons, he could not divulge any information about transportation of Dr. Imran’s dead body from Jinnah International Airport to Azizabad.
To a question, he said that there was no immediate threat of terrorism on the occasion, however, all precautionary measures have been taken to thwart acts of terrorism.
Earlier, he presided a meeting to review the security plan.
Besides, the Home Minister, the meeting was also attended by MQM leaders Rauf Siddiqui, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Adil Siddiqui, IG Sindh Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak, DG Rangers Sindh Ejaz Chaudhry, CCPO Karachi Fayyaz Leghari and Home Secretary Arif Ahmed and other officials.
The dead body Dr. Imran Farooq will arrive here in Karachi from London on November 6. The funeral prayers of the deceased will be offered after Zuhar prayers at Jinnah Ground and he will be laid to rest at Yaseenabad graveyard.
