Mark Wahlberg Gets Role in “Uncharted” – Sorry Nathan Fillion

Despite a Twitter campaign and an amazing resemblance, Castle star Nathan Fillion did not get the role of Nathan Drake in the upcoming movie “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.” Instead, CNN reports that Mark Wahlberg has landed the role of Drake. David O. Russell is directing the flick which is based on the PS3 video game of the same name, and the rumor is that Robert De Niro is being lined up to play Drake’s father, and Joe Pesci his uncle. That should result in a good movie, even if it is based off a video game.
However Fillion looked exactly like the character in the game! That of itself seemed like a good reason to cast him in the role, and Fillion launched a Twitter campaign using hashtag #fillionfordrake and saying “If ever there was a Twitter campaign, let this be it. Rise, ye Browncoats. Rise, ye Castillions. RISE!”
Evidently Wahlberg’s success in “The Fighter” superseded Fillion’s resemblance to Nathan Drake. It’s a sad day for Browncoats indeed.
