Weather predicted for Christmas,. |
Profile Facts-Australia-IT promises to be great weather for a Christmas barbecue and game of backyard cricket tomorrow.
Weather Bureau forecaster Peter Blake said Melbourne looked to be heading for a fine day with a maximum of 28C.
“It should be pretty good and not too warm as well,” Mr Blake said.
He said the day would generally be “quite comfortable”, compared to past Christmases.
From 2007 to 2009 maximum temperatures of 20C, 23C and 21C were recorded respectively, with the mercury dipping to a frigid maximum of 14.5C on the 2006 festive day.
Melbourne has not recorded a maximum Christmas temperature higher than 25C since 2003, Mr Blake said.
High cloud is expected to increase through the day with a chance of thunderstorms in the north-eastern suburbs.
But Mr Blake said the storms could miss Melbourne entirely.
Northwesterly winds are predicted, averaging up to 20km/h and tending south to southwesterly by early evening.
