Farmers burn cocoa In Cote d’Ivoire

Hundreds of farmers in Cote d’Ivoire decided to burn their products in protest of the EU sanctions.

Participants of the demonstration, cocoa plantations farmers stated that are opposing the EU sanctions, since they are not connected with politics. In protest, demonstrators burned sacks of cocoa beans.

Foreign sanctions affected economic sectors such as cocoa export, as well as the banking sector. Several branches of French banks have closed in the country. The EU authorities have also decided to freeze the bank accounts of government officials, including Laurent Gbabo. His reluctance to leave the presidency was the reason of sanctions,
