Marcel Hirscher


Marcel Hirscher (born March 2, 1989) is an Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer.
Born in Annaberg-Lungötz, Salzburg, Hirscher made his World Cup debut in March 2007. He has won twelve World Cup races, five giant slalom and six slalom, and has been on 27 World Cup podiums in Super G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined. He is the reigning World Cup champion, as well as the World Cup champion in giant slalom.
At the 2010 Winter Olympics, he placed fourth in the giant slalom and fifth in the slalom at Whistler Creekside. He placed fourth in the giant slalom at the 2009 World Championships, but broke his ankle the weekend preceding the 2011 World Championships, which ended his 2011 season.
