The Samsung Galaxy Tab is an Android-based compact tablet computer produced by Samsung that debuted on the 2nd of September at the 2010 IFA in Berlin. It features a 7-inch (180 mm) TFT-LCD touchscreen, Wi-Fi capability, a 1.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 ("Hummingbird") processor, and the Swype input system. It is equipped with a 3.2 MP rear-facing camera and a 1.3 MP front facing camera for video calls.
The Galaxy Tab, at release, was equipped with Android 2.2 (Froyo).

Hardware

The tablet is enclosed in a plastic body that makes it lighter than other metal-made tablets, weighting 380 g (0.84 lb).
The GT-P1000 model carries a 7" LCD TFT instead of the AMOLED which is used by Samsung in most of its phones.[6] The screen has a 1024×600 resolution. It has a flash internal storage of 16 GB or 32 GB that can be expanded with a microSD card.
Its CPU is a 1.0 GHz Cortex A8 application and has 512 MB of RAM.

The tablet has 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G connectivity through HSPA and HSUPA networks, and a GPS chip.
It is believed that its 4000 mAh battery will give it 7 hours of video playback or 10 hours[citation needed] of talk time.

This tablet comes with Android 2.2 that will be upgradeable to Android 3.0 in a near future. The current Android version has been modified with some custom skins and applications. Adobe Flash 10.1, DivX, MPEG-4, WMV and Xvid support has also been announced.
