Chile celebrate:Last miner come out after 70 days

In his own version of the captain being the last to leave a sinking ship, 54-year-old foreman Luis Urzusa became the last of 33 trapped miners to emerge from the San Jose Mine in northern Chile in a real-life mission impossible.

At 10 p.m. it was too late to see the blue sky, but the whole process was a huge success. The miners had been expected to spend another month or even two 2,000 below ground in the copper-gold mine on the Atacama Desert.

Though in a desert the chamber where they escaped when a portion of the mine collapsed was very humid. It was seen as a miracle that they had even survived.

They came up one at a time, rising in a capsule named Phoenix, for the mythical bird that rose from its own ashes to fly.

The whole world was watching, courtesy of live streaming on the ubiquitous Internet.
