DC Metro Bomb Plot Suspect Farooq Ahmed Arrested

Farooq Ahmed, a 34 year old Pakistani-American, of Ashburn, Washington DC has been arrested. He is alleged to have plotted to bomb the Washington DC metro.

FBI agent Charles Dayoub said in the affidavit “Ahmed is using his firearms to train for his ultimate goal of traveling to Afghanistan to fight and kill Americans.”

Ahmed was accused of conducting surveillance, videotaping, photographing, and drawing diagrams of the Arlington Cemetery, Courthouse, Crystal City and Pentagon City Metrorail stations. He also offered suggestions about where to place explosives to kill people in simultaneous attacks. These were planned to take place at some time in 2011.

Just last week a Texas court put away Adnan Mirza, a 33 year old Pakistani, living in the U.S. on a student visa, for 15 years. He was found guilty of possessing illegal firearms and conspiring to provide support to terrorist groups in Pakistan.

The Obama administration warned Islamabad that it would face consequences if another terrorist attack was discovered to be originating from Pakistan, just a few short weeks ago.
