Nancy Pelosi election results – yes and no

Ms. Pelosi retained her seat in the House of Representatives by wiping out her challenger John Dennis in a landslide. She took in 80% of the vote.

Needless to say, her district is heavily laden with registered Democrats.

She was also helped in her re-election by supporting President Obama’s health plan.

By convincing some House members they had to “pass the bill so that you can, ah, find out what is in it”, she further enamored her constituency.

The blogosphere has been crawling with comments in her win/loss.

Jack Times comments: After Vice President Joe Biden, she has the highest political position. No wonder why she was considered as America’s most powerful woman.

Telly Café says: There are many who think that Pelosi was the one who helped Obama achieve his goals and things would get tough for him now that she is gone but there is also a group of people who think she was a virus and should have been completely kicked out of congress.

Politics and World News tells us: Pelosi's downfall was the healthcare reform. Amid strong opposition from the American people, Pelosi still lead the way for its passage in the house.

The statement “pass the bill..... find out what is in it” also led to Nancy Pelosi’s downfall as house madam.

The Republicans gained control of the house in a nation-wide wave of House wins.

Nancy will step down as Speaker of the House. She was the first Italian-American to occupy that post.

There is another wave in California – Malibu has some terrific waves at the moment and surfers are coming down to the beaches in droves.
