The tradition of a Royal Christmas broadcast began in 1932 and Queen Elizabeth II has been appearing on radio and television every Christmas since 1952.
This year, she does have some good family news to share.
Over the last few years the Queen's message has been a little sombre due to the continuation of conflicts abroad and squally economic waters. However, there is the opportunity for a ray of sunshine this year, as it's highly likely her grandson's engagement to Kate Middleton will be mentioned.
