Christmas number one

Christmas number one,
This year's X Factor finalists, all of whom will be taking part in next year's X Factor tour, have each recorded a different winner's song, it has been revealed.

In previous years, a single song has been chosen for the X Factor to release, regardless of who wins the talent show.

However, Simon Cowell has revealed that this time, each of the four finalists has been assigned their own record.

"They've all recorded a song, One Direction have got their own record, each act have got their own record which is completely geared to them. They are not all singing one song," unrealitytv.co.uk quotes him as saying.

In years gone by, the X Factor winner was virtually guaranteed the Christmas number one single.

However, last year saw a successful campaign to get Rage Against the Machine's Killing in the Name to the top spot and similar stunts are being planned for this year.

"I think it's made the race more exciting, I genuinely mean that. We're going to be working harder because I want these guys to have a number one but I welcome the competition," Cowell commented.

The stars of this year's show will be taking part in the X Factor Live tour next year, which begins at the LG Arena in Birmingham on February 19th.
